Jackson Sauthoff is a lifelong learner, tinkerer, and altruist with a breadth of skills and experiences. He completed his first volunteer design project in 2021 while a student at Ventura College, completing a small production run of custom ornaments for a Holiday Toy Drive for veteran families in need. While completing degrees in manufacturing technology, drafting technology, and engineering, Jackson continued to volunteer his time and growing design knowledge to his community. After several more design projects, Jackson founded Selfless Service Design and Fabrication in 2023 to formalize and grow the work he was already doing.
Jackson’s commitment to service is rooted in his upbringing and his recognition of the tremendous support he has received throughout his life. Both of Jackson’s parents retired as career civil servants from Naval Surface Warfare Center – Port Hueneme Division. His mother also retired from the Navy Reserve and Jackson often tells the Navy veterans he meets that he is the proud son of a Builder Chief. His parents set an example of public service and lifelong volunteer work; at their children’s school, youth organizations, local hospital, and more.
Jackson began his own military career in the U.S. Army as an electronics repairer in the 4th Infantry Division. After two tours in Iraq, he joined the Army Reserve as a Mental Health Counselor. While in the reserve, he served overseas in both Germany and Kuwait as a clinic manager. He currently serves as an Army Reserve Career Counselor.
Jackson’s service allowed him to access educational funding through the Post-9/11 GI Bill and the VA’s Veteran Readiness and Employment program and he is still pursuing higher educational goals as a student engineer at the Iron Range Engineering Program.
